SIPTU members employed in the National Advocacy Service have suspended strike action after taking to the picket line in Bray this afternoon calling for an increase in their pay.
Management have agreed it will fully implement a Labour Court recommendation concerning pay and conditions for their workers.
The service represent people living with disabilities across Wicklow.
Commenting on the issue, Cllr Caroline Winstanley said "NAS is an essential service that keeps people informed of their rights and ensures people have a voice in situations where there may be differences of opinion. This service will be at threat if staff are not paid a fair wage in line with the increase of the cost of living. Staff are not paid enough and it will become increasingly hard to retain them. This will leave some of the most vulnerable people in our society further isolated."
