“A Secure Home In Time For Christmas” - Boost For Blessington With New Cost Rental Plans

Blessington Demesne - Tuath

28 new affordable rental homes are coming to Blessington

Blessington will seen the development of twenty eight new Cost Rental homes, giving Wicklow renters another option as the county's housing provider Tuath Housing expands its local footprint.

The new duplex homes will let at rates at least 25% below market value, with applications opening later this month on tuathhousing.ie/cost-rental.

A decade of growth in Wicklow

Tuath's Wicklow presence dates back to its first local home in 2013.

It now manages more than 570 homes across the county, and the Blessington scheme adds to that total as part of a nationwide push to deliver almost 400 Cost Rental homes in the coming months.

Strong demand nationally

The Blessington homes arrive amid what Tuath describes as sustained pressure on affordable rental supply. The organisation has received over 50,000 Cost Rental applications so far in 2026 and delivered 519 such homes by the end of July, cementing its position as Ireland's largest Cost Rental provider with more than 2,300 homes under management nationwide.

Bronagh D'Arcy, Tuath's Chief Operations Officer, said middle-income earners are being squeezed by high prices and limited availability in the private rental market

Demand for Cost Rental housing continues to be strong nationwide. Tuath has delivered 519 Cost Rental homes up to the end of July this year and has received more than 50,000 applications for Cost Rental housing in 2026 to date.

The organisation now manages over 2,300 Cost Rental homes across Ireland, making it the country's leading Cost Rental housing provider.

"Our data continues to demonstrate high levels of demand for Cost Rental throughout the country," said Bronagh D'Arcy, Chief Operations Officer with Tuath Housing.

"As middle-income earners continue to be squeezed by high prices and a lack of availability in the private rental market, Cost Rental offers people a home that is secure and more affordable than what they would get elsewhere.

"The 382 Cost Rental homes we will deliver before year-end represent hundreds of individuals and families who will have a secure home in time for Christmas. Cost Rental allows tenants to plan, put down roots and be a part of a community for years to come."

How Cost Rental works

Cost Rental is a not-for-profit rental model where rent covers construction, management and maintenance costs rather than generating a market return — keeping rates at least 25% below local market value. After a six-month probationary period, tenants can stay for an unlimited duration, provided they meet their tenancy obligations.

To qualify, applicants need a net household income below €66,000 (Dublin) or €59,000 (elsewhere in the country). Full eligibility details are available on the Tuath Housing website.
