The search for a New Local Hero!

Irish Music Month is back and  we’ll be playing more Irish music than ever, doing lots of Irish artist chats & social posts and generally showing the Irish acts we love so much the love & support they deserve…hopefully you agree and you’ll get in on the act too!

Part of that will include a hunt for Ireland’s newest Local Hero...

So if you, or someone you know, is making amazing original music here in Ireland & you think they need a bit of a leg up so more people get to hear it, then spread the word and tell them to get in touch with us

We’re looking for 4 acts...... each will receive nearly a grand to perform live on East Coast FM, one will be chosen as our Local Hero, who could then get the chance to be among the 6 to perform at a national Grand Finale to potentially win a further 5k in cash and 5k in support

That includes mentoring, studio time, a record release, a PR campaign and guaranteed radio plays across all the participating stations

Unbelievable right?????!

Ultimately Irish Music Month will put around 100 thousand euro into the hands of acts and artists across the country, now THAT will make a REAL difference and that’s what Irish radio does for Irish artists

Now did you know we’re also looking for an original Irish language song?!

Yes we’re looking for Amhrán na Laoch or 'song of the heroes'

So if you or someone you know is writing songs ‘as Gaeilge’ or wants to try their hand at performing one of their songs ‘as Gaeilge’ or collaborating with someone on a blended bearla agus gaeilige amhrán then tell them to submit that song at irish music month dot ie

 If your song is chosen you win: 

 –     €2,500 prize money

–     Music industry mentoring & support & the opportunity to release a song

–     Independent Irish radio station airplay across the country

–     Guaranteed coverage and support from Hot Press

–     And the opportunity to perform live at the New Local hero Grand Finale National Final @ The Academy, Dublin in October
