The development comes 30 years after the last reported sighting of the 26-year-old American woman.
The last confirmed sighting of Annie McCarrick was on Friday the 26th of March 1993 at 11am, when she was captured on CCTV visiting AIB on the Sandymount Road in Dublin.
Subsequent sightings were reported on that date in the Sandymont Green Area, on the number 44 bus bound for Enniskerry, the village of Enniskerry, as well as Johnny Fox's pub.
Annie's described as being 5'8" in height, slim, and had long brown hair
She's believed to have been in possession of a large brown leather bag on the day of her disappearance.
Superintendent Eddie Carroll from Kevin St Garda Station believes there are people out there with information who've yet to come forward.
Suspects connected to the case in the past include Spanish serial killer Antonio Angles who allegedly fled to Dublin at the time and convicted rapist and attempted murderer Larry Murphy.
Superintendent Carroll says they're not ruling out any suspects.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact Irishtown Garda Station or the Garda Confidential line.
