Over 3,000 Cases Of Suspected Welfare Fraud Under Investigation

The Department of Social Protection has launched investigations into 3,300 cases of suspected welfare fraud this year. 

41 cases have been referred to the Chief State Solicitors Office. 

A further 45 people have also been convicted in court - with two jailed. 

Most cases relate to Jobseeker's Allowance, but Sinn Féin's social-protection spokesman, Wicklow T.D. John Brady, says welfare fraud is actually dropping
