He moved to Hollywood, then came home to shoot in Hollywood An Irish filmmaker who moved to Hollywood, Los Angeles, has come home to shoot a “failed heist” music video in the Wicklow village that shares its name. A masked robbery, a chase and a motorbike are about to put a Wicklow village on screen, and none of it has anything to do with California. Hollywood, Co. Wicklow is the setting for the new music video from Andy Asco, an Irish filmmaker and indie-pop artist who recently moved to the far more famous Hollywood in Los Angeles. When it came to shooting the video for his new single “Reaction”, featuring Joe Butler, he decided to bring the whole production home. The video is out on Friday 30 October. Filmed in early October, it is a “failed heist” story, shot in a single day across Hollywood, Ballinaclash and Glenmalure. A local shop and a working sheep farm both took part, so locals may well spot a familiar setting. The press kit promises a chase, performances, a robbery, and “a whole load of mud, truck, motorbike and sheep”. The Wicklow link is personal for Andy. His roots are in the same part of the county, and having just moved to Hollywood, LA, he thought shooting the video in Hollywood, Wicklow would be a fun nod to the move. He is an artist from Dublin in his twenties who grew up making up songs in the back of the car on the way to GAA practice with his mates, and who started making films around the same age. That became a career directing and producing for TV and online commercial content, including music projects for Khaki Kid, F3miii, Chameleon and Joe Butler himself. As a solo artist he leans towards an indie-pop sound. Joe Butler is a 20-year-old indie-pop and alternative-rock singer-songwriter and producer from Prosperous, Co. Kildare, known for a genre-hopping sound and a rising name in the Irish alt-pop scene. The pair became friends through the Irish music scene and share a love of an alternative pop sound. Home studio sessions in late 2025 and early 2026 led to “Reaction”, a song Andy says comes from his experience of relationships that end in needless drama. “Reaction” is an independent release with no label, and will be available on all platforms from Friday 30 October.
