Mother and baby home survivors have welcomed the news that audio recordings from the commission of investigation have been retrieved.
The Department of Children says the confidential committee found the back-up tapes, and they are audible and accessible. Survivors had expressed anger after it emerged the testimony given by 550 people had been deleted.
Today the Dáil will debate a Social Democrats motion to extend the commission by one year.
