The board of Irish Water has given the go ahead for the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in Arklow.
Work on the facility is due to begin this year with completion expected in 2024 and when complete the plant will have the capacity to serve up to 36,000 people.
Funding for the project which is estimated to cost around €100 Million, now only requires approval from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, before being signed off by Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien.
