Ireland's Largest Pump Track
The Murrough Pump Track is a joint effort by Wicklow Town Team, Wicklow Municipal District and Wicklow County Council, developed through local collaboration and public funding. Local company Trailbreaker carried out the construction.
The facility is free, safe, accessible, and open all year round. Recognised as the largest of its kind in Ireland, it has 280 metres of track, with separate sections for beginners and advanced riders. The Murrough Pump Track gives young and old alike of the wider community a place to stay active, learn new skills and meet others.
The judges visited Wicklow in August to see the track first-hand and hear a presentation from Wicklow Town Team and the Council. In announcing the win, they praised its positive impact on young people, noting how it encourages active lifestyles, builds skills and confidence, and creates an inclusive space to socialise and enjoy the outdoors.
A Team Effort
"The Murrough Pump Track is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared vision to create something special for local young people. This achievement perfectly reflects Wicklow Town Team’s mission: to make Wicklow a better place to live, work and play.” - Myra Porter, Chairperson of Wicklow Town Team.
This first-place win is a proud moment for Wicklow, celebrating partnership, community spirit and investment in facilities that benefit young people, and a lasting asset for the town.
