A Wicklow-based garda has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman three times in Aughrim Garda Station on a date in September 2020.
41-year-old William Ryan had denied the charges, claiming she came on to him, and that everything that happened between them afterwards was consensual.
The jury also convicted him of falsely imprisoning the woman in the station.
In his evidence, he denied her claim that he stopped her from leaving the station by locking the side door she came in through.
He was remanded in custody for the first time today, and is due back in court in October for his sentence hearing.
