A Wicklow T.D. has launched a petition both online and with local businesses in Arklow, calling on An Bord Pleanala to uphold the council’s planning permission for a major Data Centre Development for Avoca River Park on the outskirts of Arklow.
Last month an objection was lodged against the €500 million job investment plan on the deadline date to appeal the planning, which delays the project by at least 18 weeks, when the planning board is due to deliver its ruling.
The development is expected to provide over 450 jobs during construction with a further 90 full time positions when the centre is up and running.
Wicklow T.D. Pat Casey, who had been heavily involved in convincing the company to invest in Arklow, says it’s vital that the appeal is dealt with in a prompt manner as the project is a massive boost to the local economy.
