The number of domestic violence cases sent forward for trial nearly doubled last year.
According to freedom of information figures, the DPP referred 495 files for prosecution last year - compared to 249 in 2019.
And the number of files the DPP received from the gardai relating to domestic violence increased by 88 per cent last year.
