Motorists in Wicklow and surrounding counties are being urged to slow down and exercise care.
Heavy rain has left many routes treacherous, with surface water affecting main routes including the N11 and the N81, while spot flooding is being reported on a number of secondary routes.
Heavy downpours are forecast across parts of the country over the next few days.
A status yellow warning for rain came into effect overnight for Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.
Up to 50mm of rain is expected, with a risk of spot flooding in places.
The warning is valid until midday tomorrow.
