The government looks set to ban all non-essential travel from countries with high rates of COVID-19.
According to today's Sunday Independent, under new proposals from the Department of Health, visitors arriving here from hotspots including the United States and Brazil will be put on a so-called "red list".
A spokesperson for Health Minister Stephen Donnelly told the paper that the Wicklow TD is keen to make it clear the proposals would not make any changes to the current green list system that, which is reviewed every two weeks.
The approach would align with the approach adopted by other EU countries.
