A deal has been reached in principle to purchase a site for the new Greystones Primary Care Centre in North Wicklow.
The site on Mill Road is being separated out from the wider development of the site earmarked by Wicklow County Council.
The deal is expected to go before the HSE board for final approval at the end of May, allowing the project to proceed.
It's expected construction works on the site could take up to three years to complete.
Heath Minister Wicklow TD Stephen Donnelly says the new facility will help meet growing demand for treatment services in the area.
