All plastic packaging waste, including soft plastics, can now be placed in household recycling bins.
From this week, all waste collector companies must take and sort soft packaging, such as crisp bags, sweet wrappers and bread wrappers, provided it's "clean, dry and loose".
The move's expected to reduce the need for large volumes to be exported overseas for processing, and the burning of plastic.
