Wicklow's wait times for driving tests are benign when compared with significant delays elsewhere
Learner drivers in Wicklow face an 11-week wait to receive an invitation to book their driving test, according to the latest figures published by the Road Safety Authority (RSA).
The figures, correct as of June 12th, show waiting times in Wicklow are slightly below the national average of 12 weeks, but still above the RSA's target waiting time of 10 weeks.
The data also reveals that 127 driving test appointments in Wicklow were missed by applicants during the first six months of 2025.
While Wicklow's waiting times are relatively moderate by national standards, significant delays remain elsewhere. Raheny in north Dublin has the longest waiting time in the country, with learner drivers facing a 25-week wait before receiving an invitation to book a test.
The figures emerged as concerns continue over driving test backlogs nationwide. According to reports, 160 driving tests had to be cancelled at the Tallaght test centre this year due to delays in completing scheduled tests before the end of the working day.
The RSA has said it is examining measures to ease pressure on the system, including plans for an additional test centre in the Dublin region.
The latest statistics show waiting times vary considerably across the country, ranging from nine weeks in some centres to 25 weeks in Raheny. For learner drivers in Wicklow, the current wait for an invitation to book a test stands at 11 weeks.
