Fianna Fáil’s spokesperson on Health says he wants to know when the HSE and the Health Minister Simon Harris knew that the developer chosen to provide primary Care Centres in Arklow and Greystones had decided to pull out of the contract.
Wicklow T.D. Stephen Donnelly says he only became aware on Wednesday, when the HSE confirmed the news after being questioned about the situation.
Planning permission was granted for the Arklow facility last December while the Greystones project was moving toward the planning stage. But Deputy Donnelly says, when he raised concerns last January that the massive overspend controversy at the National Children’s Hospital could impact on these projects, he was assured that wasn’t the case.
However he wants to know if Simon Harris knew at that time that the contractor was pulling out and if the Minister was being economic with the truth in his failure to mention this.
