Cllr Gerry O’Neill has raised concerns over the assessment of a property in Dunlavin by International Protection Accommodation Services
Cllr Gerry O’Neill has raised concerns over the assessment of a property in Dunlavin by International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) after struggling to find services and school places for people who have recently moved into a social housing programme.
IPAS is seeking to house 32 people going through the asylum process at the property, but Cllr O’Neill feels the local infrastructure in the west Wicklow village cannot cope with any new arrivals.Raising the matter at February’s meeting of Wicklow County Council, Cllr O’Neill stated: “There is no contact seemingly with schools, doctors and dentists, or services that we need but don’t have in the area."In the Blessington area I have been dealing with people over the last couple of weeks who have moved into the town, into a social housing programme, and their children can’t access the local schools as they are full.Cllr O’Neill also took issue with the number of people being considered for accommodation through the Dunlavin assessment, with no decision yet made.
