There’s been a broad welcome to Done Deal’s decision to suspend the advertising of dogs on its website due to the recent spike in animal theft.
Fiona Gammel from Wicklow Animal Welfare told Eastcoast FM’s Morning show that the move will make a huge difference in the dog thefts contributing to the issue of puppy farms across the country.
The online marketplace says it works closely with animal welfare groups to meet the appropriate standards.
It says it has taken a number of measures this year to improve transparency such as microchip verification.
