Poolbeg West has the potential to deliver 3,500 homes, with a quarter earmarked for social and affordable housing.
Dublin city council has granted planning permission for preliminary infrastructural works to allow for the first phase of the Poolbeg West project.
According to the Herald, it includes developing streets, public spaces and transportation and water services for the site that's 15 hectares.
A new network of roads includes a tree-lined avenue called Central Boulevard. A new coastal park also forms part of the plans, along with a large village green, public square and a dog park.
The works also include the temporary landscaping of a site for a new school.
The plan will see the old Glass Bottle site and adjoining land in Ringsend redeveloped - allowing 3,500 homes to be built.
