New Mini Passport Provides Boost For Wicklow Town's Tourist Attractions

Wicklow County Council has introduced the Mini Wicklow Passport providing insight to the many attractions for visitors and tourists alike

A new passport trail for Wicklow Town, inviting visitors to collect stamps showing various local attractions has been revealed by Wicklow County Council.

Visitors to the town are encouraged to complete a challenge by collecting all eight stamps to earn a certificate at Wicklow Library.

The mini passport can be picked up free of charge at the local tourist office, the library or so-called stamping locations such as Wicklow Gaol or Kilmantin Arts.

The new stamps, designed locally and inspired by the popular Heritage Trail, include stops at the following locations: Church of Ireland on Church Hill, the soon-to-be-reopened Abbey Grounds, St. Patrick’s Church, The Murrough & Wicklow Harbour, Cpt. Robert Halpin, The Black Castle, Billy Byrne 1798 Monument and Wicklow Gaol.

Stamps are available at participating businesses located near each attraction. Once visitors complete the challenge and collect all eight stamps.

Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council Cllr. Melanie Corrigan said:

“The Wicklow Town Passport Trail is a great initiative that will attract day visitors to Wicklow. Combining the trail challenge of collecting various stamps with a visit to Wicklow Gaol makes Wicklow Town a full-day destination with plenty to see and do.”

 Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council Emer O’Gorman, added,

“The Wicklow Passport project is proving to be highly versatile, offering an incentive for visitors to not only discover the whole of County Wicklow but also explore more local attractions. Wicklow County Council will collaborate with various local communities to explore new trails, helping to revive and promote Wicklow.”
