Hundreds of extra places in courses such as medicine, nursing and veterinary are expected to be offered to students to ease pressure.
Reports today say that Minister Simon Harris is to bring the plan before a Cabinet meeting next week for approval. It would see some of the high-demand courses increase in capacity by around five percent.
