Wicklow TD Simon Harris is describing the investment as a “game changer” for the town
Wicklow Town’s wastewater infrastructure is getting a major upgrade, to the tune of almost six million euro.
Work will get underway this month network in the Bollarney area, marking the first phase of a longer-term programme aimed at increasing capacity and improving resilience across the town.
It's expected to support future housing, protect the environment and help the town continue to grow.
The upgrade comes as Wicklow Town continues to expand, with growing demand for infrastructure capable of supporting new homes and sustainable development.
Tánaiste and Wicklow TD Simon Harris described the investment as a “game changer” for the town, saying reliable wastewater infrastructure is essential to delivering homes and supporting communities into the future.
Housing Minister James Browne is also welcoming the commencement of works, saying improved wastewater capacity would bring “tangible benefits” to the community and help facilitate much-needed housing development in the area.

A further upgrade of the Bollarney Pump Station is expected to begin next year, subject to planning approval.
The initial phase of works is being carried out by Coffey Construction on behalf of Uisce Éireann and is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
