A Wicklow TD has called on the Transport Minister Eamon Ryan to take decisive action to tackle the backlog for people waiting to sit their driving test.
The Road Safety Authority has confirmed that there are now 1,405 learner drivers waiting for a test in Wicklow, with over 92,000 people waiting across the state.
Deputy John Brady says with public transport down to 25% capacity and sharing of lifts not feasible because of the pandemic, there is a clear need for additional driving instructors and testers to address the backlog of cases.
