Twenty-two independent radio stations across Ireland, including East Coast FM, are putting Irish music centre stage this September and October through Irish Music Month.

Irish Music Month is a month-long celebration of Irish artists and the vital role local radio plays in supporting homegrown talent – from first gigs to international success.

During the month, participating stations are committing to:

• Increased airplay for Irish artists

• On-air conversations with musicians and creators

• Social media promotion to amplify Irish acts

• Direct financial support – around €100,000 going straight to artists and crews

Irish Music Month is an initiative of Hot Press and the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland, supported by Coimisiún na Meán under the Sound & Vision scheme, funded by the Television Licence Fee.

President Catherine Connolly has backed the initiative, saying: "It is vitally important that our broadcasters support our local Irish artists and I am very grateful for the commitment which each of the stations involved are showing to Irish musicians through this initiative."
