Irish Water says plans to build a new reservoir in Saggart will help to safeguard supplies to homes and businesses in the Greater Dublin Area.
The upgrade marks the first significant investment at the site since it was built in the 1950’s and will see a new waterworks system provide 100 million litres of treated drinking water from the Ballymore Eustace treatment plant in Kildare.
The Minister for Housing Darragh O’ Brien says construction on the project and associate pipelines will start next month and is due to be completed within 3 years.
