The Environment Minister says Bray and Greystones along with Dun Laoghaire are most at risk of rising sea levels.
Eamon Ryan, also says significant action will be needed to protect the rail line between Dublin and Rosslare.
Explaining the reason for the increased risk, Mr Ryan says it’s a combination of both naturally rising sea and land levels as well as the movement in the tectonic plate.
Mr Ryan warns that this risk could also threaten all major Irish cities, once the irreversible melting of the arctic tundra considered the ‘tipping point’ is reached.
