The Health Minister has reiterated his commitment that St Joseph’s Dementia Care Home Shankill will stay open.
It was announced last week the day-care service in South County Dublin, which is home to 60 people living with dementia and provides two respite beds and an additional 120 day care places per week may be forced to close at the end of the year because of a lack of adequate funding
Earlier this week a petition with 10,000 signatures of public support for Saint Joseph’s was handed into the Dail.
Minister Harris says he is confident that talks between management and the HSE and the National Treatment Purchase Fund will ensure increased funding will be made available to ensure Saint Joseph’s will continue to operate as normal.
