A new pilot admissions system to streamline secondary school applications in Greystones has been launched.
A new pilot school admissions system to streamline applications for families in Greystones has been launched by Tánaiste and Wicklow TD Simon Harris.
The new portal, applytoschool.ie, opened today and will cover applications for first-year and special class places at three secondary schools in the town: Greystones Community College, St David’s Holy Faith Secondary School and Temple Carrig Secondary School.
The system is designed to simplify what has traditionally been a stressful process for parents and guardians, while also making admissions more transparent and efficient.
Speaking at the launch, Mr Harris said the move would take pressure off families during the transition from primary to secondary education.
“We all know how stressful the transition from primary to post-primary can be, and this new pilot will take away much of that pressure by making the process clearer and more straightforward,” he said.
The online portal will remain open until 22 October, with first-round offers due to issue on 12 November and second-round offers on 4 December.
“Greystones continues to grow, and with that growth comes pressure on school places. This pilot is an important step towards a national system that will support parents, schools and the Department in planning effectively for the future.”
The pilot scheme is the first step in a nationwide plan to roll out a single, centralised school admissions system aimed at cutting duplication, providing clarity for parents, and ensuring fairer allocation of places.
