Examination Takes Place Following Fire At Former Nursing Home On Wicklow/Dublin Border

A formal examination of the building where a blaze broke out in south Dublin has been carried out.

An expert engineer has assessed its safety after the fire started at an old nursing home complex in Crooksling in Brittas.

The Taoiseach has expressed concern over the fire at a vacant building which was rumoured to be earmarked for asylum seekers.

Gardaí helped Dublin and Wicklow Fire Brigades throughout the day in managing the extensive fire.

Control of the scene has been transferred to the gardai who are appealing for information.

Wicklow Social Democrats TD, Jennifer Whitmore, says if the fire was arson - every effort must be made to bring those responsible to justice.
