Wicklow Minister Simon Harris has announced €227,505 in funding for Wicklow under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme.8 Wicklow projects are set to benefit from much needed funding under the scheme This funding helps to support the economic well being of the county and boost tourism

Speaking today Minister Harris said: “I am delighted to confirm that 8 key Wicklow projects are in line to receive funding ranging from €22,000 to €30,000.“The significant level of funding announced today is much needed and will be welcome by communities across Wicklow.“This funding aims to attract more visitors to our towns and villages.“As the clocks go forward this weekend, I want to remind Wicklow residents and visitors that our county has so much to offer when it comes to the outdoors especially the many cycling and walking trails we are lucky to have.“It is essential we continue to resource local community and outdoor projects in County Wicklow.“These projects help boost the local economy and more importantly our tourism sector.

The projects in line for funding are the following:

Provision of a natural play area within Ballysize forest in Hollywood (€29,700.00)

Construction id a 200m route and resurfacing at Wicklow Way (€29,700.00)

Replacement of Knockree bridge with bike traffic blockades (€29,700.00)

Repair and Drainage works of two bridge at Stranhely (€29,700.00)

Enhancement and resurfacing works at Three Wells and Cushbawn (€29,700.00)

Re-branding of the full route from Wicklow Uplands Way to “Sugarloaf Way” (€26,280)

Marketing and QR Plaques at each Wicklow trailhead (€30,000)

Improvement works to Lackan mass path (€22,725)
