Dublin is one of four cities that is calling on the European Commission to set up a multi-billion euro grant scheme for public transport.
City officials say the likes of buses and trams have suffered huge losses during the Covid-19 pandemic and will need to be supported to attract passengers back on board and to achieve climate and air quality goals.
They're looking for a 3.5 billion euro fund for zero-emissions buses and taxis, high-speed internet on board vehicles and cycle tracks and wider footpaths.
