The rate at which house prices are rising eased slightly in the year to January.
They increased by 8.1% nationwide, down from 8.8% in the year to December.
The cost of buying a home continued to rise strongly in the 12 months to January.
CSO figures show they went up by 8.1% in that period.
That's down from a rate of 8.8% the previous month.
In Dublin, prices rose by 7.5%, while outside the capital they were up 8.6%.
The highest price growth in Dublin was in Fingal at 9.5%, while outside Dublin the region with the largest increase was the border, that's Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan and Sligo, where they went up by 12 point 7 per cent.
However at the other end the Mid East saw just a 5 point 8 per cent increase, that includes counties Kildare, Louth, Meath and Wicklow.
