Wicklow County Council is being urged to take up the offer of free land from local landowners, to put in place a safe pedestrian link between Ballinahinch and Ashford Village.
There are concerns that an increase in housing developments in the area surrounding the village has led to a rise in traffic, but locals say no adequate infrastructure is in place to ensure safer pedestrian access to Ashford for people to shop local.
Fine Gael Councillor Irene Winters says the addition of 300 new houses in the area recently, means safer pedestrian access should be a priority.
