Wicklow Beaches To Host Kids Sea Safari Workshops In August

Wicklow County Council is bringing its popular Kids Sea Safari workshops back to five beaches across the county this August, offering children the chance to explore the marine life living along their local shoreline.

The free, hands-on sessions are led by Mona McCrea, a marine biologist and environmental scientist, who will guide children through the rich biodiversity of the Wicklow coast.

Participants will dig in the sand, search beneath rocks, and take part in a scavenger hunt using buckets and nets to uncover the creatures and plants that call the shoreline home.

Who Can Take Part

The workshops are aimed at children aged five and over, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Each session runs for approximately one to one and a half hours.

Dates and Locations

The Sea Safari will visit five locations over five days:

• Monday, 4th August, 9:00am — Bray

• Tuesday, 5th August, 9:00am — Greystones

• Thursday, 6th August, 10:30am — Brittas North

• Friday, 7th August, 11:30am — Brittas South

• Saturday, 8th August, 12:00pm — Arklow (meet on the beach directly in front of the lifeguard hut — look for the SEASHOREKIDS flag)

Each group is capped at a maximum of 25 participants, and organisers have confirmed that spaces in Arklow are now limited, with families encouraged to book soon to avoid missing out.
