The New Local Hero award is a feature of Irish Music Month – a month-long programming initiative that ran during October, and saw Hot Press join forces with 25 radio stations across the country, to support Irish music and Irish musicians. 125 artists and bands are in the running to claim the prize that will launch the recipient onto the national and international stage. For us here at East Coast FM it's Bray singer-songwriter Aoife Doyle who holds a B.A. in jazz performance from Newpark Music Centre in Dublin. Her recent tune 'Strength to be Strong', showcases her ability to meld jazz, folk and soul. Judging is now underway with the showcase event to be broadcast on the 18th of November.
