A Local Fine Gael TD is aghast at the killing of five journalists in Gaza.
Fine Gael TD for Wicklow Wexford, Brian Brennan has today roundly condemned the killing of five journalists in Gaza.
Brennan, a member of Foreign Affairs Committee has been a vocal dissident voice within Government ranks calling for an immediate end to the atrocities in Gaza.
Meanwhile as the conflict continues in Gaza, Tanaiste Simon Harris has also pushed for a suspension of the EU trade deal with Israel.
The Wicklow TD has called for a full halt to trade until all violence is ended in the region following an extraordinary meeting of EU Foreign Ministers.
There’s been widespread global condemnation of the killing of reporters in Gaza over the weekend. The Wicklow-Wexford Fine Gael TD Brian Barry has joined that chorus.
Speaking on the shocking news emerging over the weekend in Gaza, Deputy Brennan said:
“The killing of these five journalists is absolutely shocking and must be condemned at the highest level.
“These journalists knew their lives would be in danger by staying in Gaza but they prioritised getting their stories out to the world of what was happening on the ground.
“The deaths of journalists, medics, parents, children must stop and Ireland and the Irish Government must continue to take the lead in the fight to have a ceasefire and also to have a long term solution for the people of Palestine.''
