Wicklow Sinn Féin TD John Brady has said that slow progress is being made to deliver a new school for North Wicklow Educate Together Secondary School.
He said that actions need to be intensified to ensure a suitable site is chosen and the process of building the long-awaited school commences.
The Department of Education and the School Building Unit have now started looking at alternative locations to the site at BIFE and have stated that they are now examining all options.
A site identification process is undwerway in the greater Bray area with one site with potential for the new school.
To advance negotiations with the owners of the site the Department is currently seeking clarification on a number of issues which would impact on the deliverability of this site in a timely manner.
“A second site option has been brought to the attention of the Department which they believe may be suitable as a permanent location for the school.
A technical assessment is currently being carried out on this potential site option.
