€1.7 million has been raised so far for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland and The FTD Foundation.
The Adams brothers have completed their marathon challenge, raising over one and a half million euro.
Cian and Jordan ran 32 marathons in 32 counties over 32 days in Ireland, ending their challenge in Merrion Square, Dublin today. The pair received a warm welcome and countywide support in Wicklow town last weekend. East Coast FM reporter Jamie Ryan was there to meet them:
Both brothers carry the gene for Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) meaning they have a 99.9% chance of developing the condition in their 40s.
The 31 and 25-year-old brothers were completing the challenge in memory of 12 Irish relatives they have lost to FTD, including their grandmother, an aunt and their mother Geraldine, who died from the disease aged 52.
Cian and Jordan met Tánaiste and Wicklow TD Simon Harris at Government buildings this afternoon, along with the Health Minister Jennifer Carroll McNeill and Kieran O'Donnell, Minister of State for Older People and Housing.
The government has committed to looking at further support that can be provided for dementia services in Ireland, including young onset dementia.
