Wicklow Minister Announces Investment For BIFE Campus In Bray

Wicklow Fine Gael TD and Minister for Further and Higher Education Simon Harris has today announced that an application submitted by KWETB for an investment in fencing for Bray Institute of Further Education (BIFE) has been green lit and will proceed to tender.

This is good progress and an investment that the college has long sought for.This is Phase 1 of the project with two further projects planned for the BIFE campus, including a new roof and new modular facilities also planned.Speaking today, Minister Harris said: “I am delighted to announce that BIFE’s application for fencing works is set to go ahead.“This is a much-needed investment in the College and I look forward to seeing the works being completed soon.”

Commenting on broader issues, Minister Harris added: “I have also received in recent days through my agencies an application to replace some old temporary facilities in BIFE with newer, modern and fit-for-purpose ones.“I expect this application to be assessed in the coming weeks and I am very eager to provide support to BIFE in relation to this.“This is timely as last year Kildare Wicklow ETB was selected by my Department and SOLAS, the State’s training agency, to be developed as a new, major, and modern Further Education training College.“We are determined to work  together to provide third level opportunities for the people of Bray, for Wicklow and the East Coast with so many opportunities for young people in terms of access to third level education, skills and pathways.Minister Harris concluded: “However, I am very conscious that in the interim it is imperative that temporary works are progressed in a rapid manner to support students and staff .

“I will be monitoring these planned works very closely in the coming weeks and months and I am very eager to do more to deliver more opportunities for young people across Wicklow."
