Residents in Greystones have continued to report foul odours from the local wastewater treatment plant, particularly following periods of heavy rain.
Following persistent complaints, Councillor Lourda Scott has been actively engaging with Uisce Éireann to find a solution to the issue.
Scott has welcomed progress on the matter, with several inspections already done to ascertain the problem.
Additionally, a full inspection of the odour control system has now been commissioned, with a report due by the end of the month.
Speaking on the issue, Cllr Scott said:
"I recently met with Uisce Éireann to discuss ongoing water and wastewater concerns in the Greystones Municipal District, including the persistent odour issues from the treatment plant. I am pleased that, following my representations, a complete inspection of the odour control system is due to start next week with a full report and recommendations expected by the end of the month The findings of this survey will determine whether further works will be required to permanently address the odour problem or whether works can be done immediately. I will continue to follow up as needed."
