The Government has announced contracts for a school building programme in Wicklow that will see two new builds in Carnew and Arklow go to the tendering stage .
Three major extensions have also been earmarked for Avondale Community College in Rathdrum, St. Kevin’s Community College in Dunlavin and Coláiste Chraobh Abhann in Kilcoole.
The new school builds will accommodate up to 1,000 students in Colaiste Bhride with 500 at Arklow CBS.
All five projects will also include the construction of 18 classrooms designed to cater for students with special educational needs.
Wicklow Senator Pat Casey has welcomed the news, and says it’s important these projects are completed as soon as possible.
