Wicklow Minister Simon Harris is to meet with Transport Minister Eamon Ryan to discuss how greenways in the county can benefit from ring fenced funding in the programme for government.
The National Transport Authority is currently undertaking a route selection study for upgrade works of the M and N11; although a number of the proposed greenway routes are required to cross this major national route.
Minister Harris is calling on the NTA to integrate potential cycle and pedestrian facilities into plans for the upgrade of the road network in North Wicklow.
The call comes as the county council launches a public consultation process on a proposed route from Kilmacanogue to the Southern Cross.
