A report looking at the effects of coastal erosion on the rail line between Dublin and Wicklow has been published.
The study by Irish Rail and planning group ARUP looked at the route between Merrion Gates and Brittas Bay and found the line is at risk in a number of areas.
Recommendations include upgrading structures at Bray Head including short breakwaters offshore, Dune regeneration between Greystones and Wicklow town and undertaking large scale protection works at Arklow South Beach.
Urgent works will get underway at the Murrough which has sustained a lot of damage from recent storms.
