Peter Thiel Event Will Not Go Ahead In Wicklow Hotel

Powerscourt Estate, where the five-star Powerscourt Hotel and Spa is located, announced the Dialog event has been cancelled - with relief.

A controversial conference that was due to take place in Enniskerry, County Wicklow next month has been cancelled.

The event linked to Peter Thiel was attracting growing criticism in local, national and political circles. The tech billionaire is known for his scepticism of democracy.

The invite only event was due to be attended by international figures from the world of politics and business.

Powerscourt Estate issued a statement this afternoon:

Following a period of great concern for Powerscourt Estate and on foot of discussions with The Powerscourt Hotel, we are relieved and pleased to announce the Dialog event planned for August at the Powerscourt Hotel has been cancelled.

And goes on to express gratitude:

Powerscourt Estate wish to thank all of those who supported us through this difficult and challenging time. Including our staff, neighbours, friends, supporters and legal team.

Dialog is an extremely secretive organisation that includes government officials, from the US and other countries, tech giants and right-wing influencers.

Wicklow activists staged a protest outside the Powerscourt Hotel recently, calling for the Dialog conference to be cancelled.
