Wicklow County Council are running a biodiversity awareness programme at Brittas Bay for the Summer/Autumn season.
This series of free outdoor public workshops and activities aims to increase awareness and appreciation of the rich ecology of coastal habitats and species that lie behind our popular beaches, and to highlight the vital role that healthy dune systems play in creating a more climate resilient environment.
Further dates for the diary for upcoming ‘Behind the Beach’ events include: ‘Dynamic Dunes’ ecology workshop Saturday, 16th September, 11am-1.00pm and Bird Migration workshop, 30th September, 8-11 am led by Alan Lauder, ecologist.
Sea Buckthorn (invasive species) removal volunteer days are also planned over the period Mid October-February and will be announced next month.
