Councillors expressed their anger at last Monday’s Wicklow County Council meeting over the fact that funding hasn’t been made available to advance the N11/M11 junction 4 to 14 Improvement Scheme to the next stage. The transportation project is aimed at alleviating congestion, improving safety, and optimising the efficiency and function of the N11/M11 as a transport corridor. The planning and design of the scheme has been progressing over the past number of years. Phase 2 of the project concluded in 2021 with the announcement and public display of a preferred option for the scheme, together with the publication of the Option Selection Report in December. The project was due to proceed to Phase 3, design and environmental evaluation, this year, however, no Government funding is forthcoming. €3.5 million was being sought to advance to Phase 3.
