“These projects will make a real and lasting difference and I am determined to see them delivered. This is about building communities, not just houses." Tánaiste Simon Harris
The Tánaiste Simon Harris has announced significant investment in housing-enabling infrastructure across County Wicklow. The funds come under Call 1 of the Government’s new €1 billion Housing Infrastructure Investment Fund.
Three Wicklow projects have been approved:
- The Rathnew Inner Relief Road, which will directly unlock land for more than 400 new homes.
- Two projects at Fassaroe in Bray: a new pedestrian and cycle bridge across the N11/M11, and a distributor road linking the N11 to Enniskerry will also be supported. These schemes will help open up a new urban district with capacity for around 4,000 homes.
Speaking today the Tánaiste said:
“This is a transformative investment in the future of Wicklow. For too long, the lack of key infrastructure, roads, water and drainage, has held back the delivery of homes that families in our county badly need. This fund changes that by putting the State’s capital directly into the infrastructure that unlocks housing, we can get homes built faster and at the scale required.”
