Bus Connects Projects For Bray And Greystones Due For Delivery By End Of June

Bus Connects plans for Bray and Greystones were announced and went to public consultation in 2018.

Wicklow TD Jennifer Whitmore has welcomed the commitment given by the National Transport Authority to deliver planned Bus Connects services for Greystones and Bray by the end of Q2 of this year.

Deputy Whitmore recently received written confirmation from the NTA stating that services are due to commence by the summer of 2024 and in a statement said.

“While this confirmation from the NTA is very welcome, the overall delivery of Bus Connects for towns like Bray and Greystones has been delayed for far too long. As our largest towns along the east coast of Wicklow have grown steadily in recent years, our bus services have not kept pace.

“Bus Connects plans for Bray and Greystones were announced and went to public consultation in 2018. Six years later, we still don’t have many proposed routes in that scheme. In particular, the L1 and L2 loop services to Greystones, Newcastle, Kilcoole, Newtownmountkennedy and Bray are badly needed.

“Other services that are also pending include the E1 from Ballywaltrim through Bray Main Street, City Centre and Northwood in Dublin, and the L15 direct service between Bray and Enniskerry. I have been told that these are planned to commence towards the end of Q2 of this year, but there have already been too many false dawns regarding buses for Wicklow. I will be keeping a very close eye on this.
